INFORMATION ON THE PERM OPERA AND BALLET COMPANIES

 

The opera and ballet companies perform in their own theatre (Perm Opera and Ballet House).

The Opera and Ballet Season opens in October and finishes at the end of June. Opera and ballet performances alternate with each other and are held every day except Monday. Evening performances start at 7 p.m., school matinees - at 12 a.m. (on Sundays and school vacations).
Total number of performances (opera and ballet) each season varies from 225 to 250. The theatre has just finished its jubilee 125th season.

The Opera Company features 40 people, the Ballet Company - 70, the Orchestra - 75 , the Chorus - 50. Total number of people working in the Theatre is 500.

Numerous foreign tours and appearances at international festivals and competitions have brought fame and success to the theatre in the Urals. Since 1973 the Perm ballet has toured extensively in Eastern and Western Europe and the Far East. The Leading ballet soloists appeared with concert programmes and in ballet performances in England, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, China, Australia and the USA, where they gained accolades and fans of the ballet art of Perm - one of the big centres of European Russia.
